The Holm Bank Hunt

This picture, which hangs on the stairs in Graythwaite Hall, shows the Holm Bank Hunt in the 18th Century. The hunting squire of the song was Myles Sandys (1723-1793): he is the figure with a red jacket in the right foreground. In the background is the Church of St. Mary and St. Michael at Urswick where the fox listened to the singers.

Underneath the picture, in a case, is Squire Sandys' riding whip.
