Horning

Ransome's Lake country was made even better than the real landscape, by moving locations around. In contrast, the Norfolk and Pin Mill stories are very realistic: all the locations exist and can be easily located.

Horning and the Staithe. - Heidi Elks

The Swan Inn at Horning (from a postcard).

Reedham ferry: The Teasel and her crew sailed past here. The ferry isn't mentioned in the story, but is similar to the Horning ferry [by the Ferry Inn], which was George Owden's escape route back from Ranworth. Eleanor Dowden, 1978
